There is an effort underway to re-name the Southeast Texas Regional Airport after former congressman Jack Brooks.
A supporter addressed Jefferson County Commissioners Court during Monday’s meeting.
Attorney Hubert Oxford III a longtime friend of the former congressman.
Brooks served in the House for more than 40 years.
Oxford says the former congressman’s many contributions to Southeast Texas merit the honor.
Commissioners didn’t vote but several voiced their approval for the idea.
Oxford would like the item on next week’s court agenda.
