Jefferson County Commissioner Bo Alfred tells KFDM that the Federal Aviation Administration has given the go-ahead to award Jefferson County a grant to repair the main terminal at the Jack Brooks Regional Airport.
The grant totals a little over $8 million.
Hurricane Rita caused major damage to the main terminal, and it’s been closed since then.
Commercial flights have operated out of the Jerry Ware Terminal.
